Livia Rita is a singer and artist.
Livia Rita’s inexhaustible source of creativity has lead her away from the Swiss alps through exploring different art forms in Zurich, Berlin, Paris and London. Her biggest devotion goes towards music and the creation of bigger vision around it by using visual art.
She is interested in creating bold new realities and real dreams for audiences to experience, to challenge belief, discover meanings and provoke change. By using different art forms and collaborating with upcoming, intriguing artists with backgrounds in theatre, dance, music and fashion, she hopes to find the voice of today.
Livia Rita is the artist behind Rewild; she composes the music, writes the texts, designs the costumes and works closely together with Tom McLuckie. With Rewild, Livia Rita won the Barbican Open Lab 2016 and was supported by Rich Mix, the Pleasance and the Truman Brewery. She is mentored by Lea Anderson and Lindsay Kemp, tutor of David Bowie and Kate Bush.
After work in progress shows at Hackney Showroom and Rich Mix, a Swiss tour and a performance at the Yard Theatre, Livia Rita is now recording her Debut Album Rewild.
Livia Rita won the Lilian Baylis Award (2014) and was nominated for the Spotlight Award (2015). She has previously been supported by the Fritz Gerber Foundation for young, rising talent. Her debut show Crystal Me (2015) won a Graduate Emerging Artist Award with the Ugly Collective and was shown at Hackney Showroom (2016).
‘Few could match its originality. One of my favourite Contemporary Theatre graduate shows ever. A strong and complex contemplation on art.’
